INTERNATIONAL AMATEUR RADIO UNION. REGION 3

                                 MONITORING SYSTEMS NEWSLETTER, SEPTEMBER 2005

IARU has defined and detailed the various amateur frequency bands, for the three Regions, mentioning if the band is shared with other services, or not. In spite of these notifications, the different Administrations of the Countries of the various Regions, do allot amateur radio frequencies to other services, as they deem fit, even in the amateur exclusive bands . Such cases, create confusion to the amateurs/National Societies, as the Administrations may or may not , notify them. Such, non-amateur stations heard on the amateur frequency bands, constitute an intrusion, in the eyes of the amateur radio operators.

Have all the National Societies of Region 3, got the information on how many non-amateur stations are permitted by their Administrations to use amateur radio frequencies in the various amateur bands??   This is important and useful information, so that all the Monitors can be advised, that those stations are authorized intruders!!   Hi.

The National Society keeping a good rapport with their Administration is a primary requirement to appraise intrusions and get their support. At present, excepting the HARTS and WIA, no other Society seems to have a   “say”.   I wish, I am wrong. Attached, please find a report on the All India Radio Stations, in their domestic services, monitored with spurious emissions.

It is a great pleasure to see DARC, RSGB, ARRL and HARTS having such good rapport with their Administrations, and their quick and effective disposals, leading to successful removal of intruding stations. May their tribe increase and help amateurs maintain their hard earned frequencies.
