Cable Tray, Rear Operating Desk

Wires are wires, so have to go somewhere, so a plastic cable tray as used in commercial installation was purchased from a local electrical shop. The tray was screwed to the edge of the operating table, and all wires run directly into the tray. Chances of cable cross talk was further reduced by changing all cable to screened. I felt it important to keep all cables as far away from the PA compartment as possible. Initially I measured considerable radiation emitted from the rear of the Kenwood TS940 when in transmit.

This is a close up of efforts to keep RF pick up to a minimum. The transceiver earth strip to the main buzz is under the cable tray approximate 5 inch in length and is double bolted. The LPF can be seen mounted under the cable tray bolted horizontally along it. All the cables in and out of the transceiver including the power cable are screened

A single station distribution block was centrally located and fixed to the rear operating desk. The LPF can be seen top left. No detectable AC mains pick up could be observed with the special mains tester screw driver. It was concluded that no electrical or magnetic field was now radiating from any supply cable.
