Commercial Low Pass Filters

These are some, but not all of my commercial low pass filters. Most are from well known manufactures. All were tested and frequency response plotted. All had different characteristics, depending on ones point of view, as to what a filter should be, all worked in some fashion, but none cured my TVi. See full article as to the reason why. Filters show were submitted to the wireless frequency bureau for testing, none were better than - 40db's at 56 Mhz most showed appreciable loss on ten meters. From top down, Drake, Bencher, KW, B&W, and Oak Bay

Filters Bolted Together

Selected LPF
The two best were selected, and joined together in series. A cradle was made to ensure absolute bonding. I also made a special, one piece, solid 259 series connector that joined the filters together.

LPF's cradle assembly
Here is the completed cradle, ready to be bolt directly onto the station earth buzz bar. Its basically all made out of two inch aluminium angle. Cheep and locally available.
Low Pass filter Installed
LPF Installed on Buzz Bar
These are the two LPF installed in a cradle and bolted up. The copper LDF 450 coax, from the antenna can be seen on the left, feeding the remote VSWR meter. The output from this feeds directly into the LPF's. The design theme, is that from the point of input to output, all are bonded as one item, and prevents ground, or RF currents circulation between item via coaxial cables. The results certainly paid off, with less receiver noise, and assured that the ground was effective, also other odd effects disappeared.
