TVi Set p

TVi Set Up

This is the test I devised to check the source of TVi. It was originally thought that my HF transmission especially the third harmonic on 56.8 Mhz was responsible. However the test showed other strange effects not previous thought about. The drawing on the left shows TV reception in normal mode. Note the rabbits ears antenna attached to the TV set, which is the preferred method in this area

The drawing on the right shows an antenna connected to the TV set. The antenna has a very deep broadside null so easy to steer out TV reception. This method also proves that HF transmission do not enter the TV by any other means, example being mains pick up, insufficient TV screening, set overloading, intermediate IF reception, turner diode rectification etc etc.

The strange effect discovered was that the position of the HF antenna plays a big part in the TV reception, lifting the TV signal to the set. Maximum TV signal was obtained when the HF antenna was pointing to the TV station and minimal when side on. I am satisfied with the tests which show that neither my transmission nor the TV which under normal viewing condition are responsible for my TVi.

It is concluded that TVi is arriving from other sources. This source is now believed to be the rusty bolt effect, as observed at various spots around house. The effect is both to enhance TV reception and produce a detectable replica of my transmission test tone, when nearing the spot, using a portable TV set, and test equipment.

Time has not permitted further tests or solutions if any of these local spots play a part in the overall problem of TVi, both to my own TV set, and that of the neighbors TV set.
